Terms & Conditions
Please read fully before submitting your application
1. Eligibility & Application
Applicants must hold a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate from a Yoga Alliance registered school, or equivalent training and practice experience approved by the School at its discretion.
Enrollment is confirmed only once the deposit described in Section 2 has been received and a written confirmation has been issued by the School.
The School may decline an application at its discretion. Where an application is declined after a deposit has been paid, the full deposit is refunded.
2. Visa & Travel Documentation
Obtaining any visa or travel documentation required to enter India is the student's own responsibility. Most international students will need an Indian e-tourist visa, generally applied for within approximately 120 days of arrival, and should confirm current requirements with official government sources for their nationality.
A visa delay, denial, or any other travel documentation issue is not grounds for a refund outside the standard cancellation terms in Section 4. The School can provide general guidance on request but does not offer formal immigration advice and is not responsible for a student's visa outcome.
3. Deposit & Payment Schedule
Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of EUR 350 is required to secure a place on the course. The deposit is credited toward the total course fee. The deposit to be paid to book my place is non-refundable, non-cancellable and non-transferable to another person under any circumstances, unless pre-approved by the School's management team, in writing. The deposit is transferable once to a different Santosha Yogashala training within 12 months of the original course date, provided the request is made at least 30 days before the original start date and is subject to seat availability on the new date.
Balance
The remaining course balance is due by bank transfer or in cash on arrival where the balance has already been agreed in writing with the School. The student is responsible for any transaction or transfer fees charged by their bank, card provider, or payment platform.
If the full course fee has been paid in advance, the student can request a refund (minus the 350 Euros deposit + transaction charges) three months in advance of the course start date. After this time refunds and cancellations are not possible.
4. Cancellation by the Student, Before the Course
Requests to cancel or transfer must be made in writing by email. The date of the email determines which tier applies. If you have paid the full course fee and cancel 90 days or more before the course start date, you will receive a refund of the amount paid, minus the non-refundable €350 deposit and any applicable transaction charges. If you cancel fewer than 90 days before the course start date, no refund will be issued, and the booking cannot be cancelled.
5. Withdrawal After the Course Has Begun
Once the course has started, fees paid are non-refundable, including in cases of voluntary withdrawal for personal reasons. Where a student is unable to continue due to a documented medical emergency, the School may, at its discretion, offer a one-time transfer of the pro-rated remaining balance to a future course. This is considered case by case and is not guaranteed. The School accepts no responsibility for travel costs, visa costs, or travel insurance in connection with any withdrawal.
6. Cancellation or Postponement by Santosha Yogashala
If the School cancels the course before it begins for any reason within its control, all fees paid, including the deposit, are refunded in full. If the course is cancelled or interrupted due to circumstances beyond the School's control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government restrictions, public health emergencies, war, or other events reasonably outside the School's ability to prevent, the School will offer a transfer to a future course date. A cash refund in these circumstances is at the School's discretion. The School will notify students of any such disruption as soon as practically possible.
Minimum enrollment: this training requires a minimum of 10 enrolled students to run. If minimum enrollment is not reached, the School will notify applicants no later than 30 days before the start date and offer a full refund of all fees paid, including the deposit, or the option to transfer to a future course date.
7. Course Content & Schedule
The School may adjust the course content, daily schedule, or teaching team as needed to run the training well, including in response to circumstances outside its control. Minor changes of this kind do not entitle a student to a refund. Any significant change to the core curriculum or lead teacher will be communicated to enrolled students as soon as it is confirmed.
8. Conduct, Attendance & Dismissal
Certification is awarded on the basis of attendance, participation, and successful completion of assessments, at the discretion of the lead teacher. The School reserves the right to dismiss a student whose conduct is disruptive to the group, unsafe, or in breach of these Terms. In such cases, no refund is given, though the School may consider a pro-rated refund where the dismissal was not related to the student's conduct. Students are expected to maintain the shared, respectful, and quiet atmosphere of the shala and accommodation, particularly during rest hours and practice sessions.
Students must attend at least 90% of scheduled sessions to be eligible for certification. Where absence falls below this threshold due to illness or another documented reason, the School may, at its discretion, offer a make-up plan or a partial certification pathway rather than withholding certification outright.
9. Health, Safety & Assumption of Risk
Students confirm they are physically and mentally fit to participate in an intensive residential training that includes sustained physical exertion. Any existing medical or psychological condition that could affect participation, including pregnancy, must be disclosed at the time of application, so the School can advise on which parts of the training may need to be modified.
Participation in physical practice carries inherent risk, including but not limited to strain, injury, and the effects of heat, humidity, and unfamiliar food or environment. By enrolling, students accept these risks as a known part of a residential yoga training.
There is no on-site medical staff. Students are responsible for consulting their own physician before the course regarding their fitness to participate, and for the cost of any medical treatment needed during the course. The School can help facilitate contact with local medical services but is not responsible for arranging or paying for them.
Comprehensive travel, medical, and cancellation insurance is strongly recommended for the full duration of the training and travel.
Hands-on adjustments: teachers may offer physical adjustments to a student's posture or alignment during practice. By enrolling, students consent to receiving these adjustments. Any student who prefers not to receive hands-on adjustment, for any reason, should let the relevant teacher know directly, at any point during the course.
Santosha Yogashala is not liable for personal injury, illness, loss, or damage to belongings arising during the course, except where caused by the School's negligence.
10. Personal Property
The School is not responsible for loss of, theft of, or damage to a student's personal belongings during the course or while on School premises.
11. Photography & Content
The School may photograph or film group sessions for use in its own teaching archive and marketing. Students who prefer not to appear in externally shared content should notify the School in writing before the course begins.
12. Certification Body & Data Sharing
Upon successful completion, students receive certification through Yoga Alliance. As part of this, a student's name, email, and phone number may be shared with Yoga Alliance so they can be invited to register directly as a certified teacher. Students may opt out of this specific registration step at any time without affecting their Santosha certification.
The School collects personal information (including contact details and any health information disclosed under Section 9) solely to administer the application, the course, and certification. This information is not sold to third parties and is shared only with Yoga Alliance as described above, or where required by law. Students who wish to have their personal data corrected or deleted after the course can contact the School directly to request this.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from enrollment in the course falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Goa.
14. Acknowledgement
By paying the deposit, the applicant confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full.
